tuesdays with robert smith.

How long has it been since you listened to Disintigration? If you're anything like me, you'll answer something like "Oh, I don't know a week tops, maybe?" Today's iPod shuffle seems to be in a Cure mood, right now I'm listening to Mr. Smith tell me about his fantasticly sweet heart aches for the third time. Oh, Robert, I know.... I know...

Upon my mp3 players wishes, cake & icecream is suggesting you guys take a 4 minute 48 second break and put on "Pictures of You". This song is one of my favorites. My picture of this song is Robert Smith taking us through a dreamscape of photos. His love is larger than life, almost billboard sized, and instead of leafing through an album, he's walking past them. They are almost real, but undeniably 2-dimensional. Its desolate and wintery but it doesn't seem to be cold, which is good since I'm doubtful that R.S. ever wears anything but skin tight black pants, thread-bare tees, and honestly, what hat is going to fit over that coif?!
To me this song forver exists in a bitter-sweet sno-globe world. Awwwwww.......

  1. "Pictures of You" was probably this year's best addition to my karaoke repertoire. I think a lot of Cure doesn't really work for karaoke, but that one's perfect, really.
