Today Is About Motion.

Today we are stuck behind desks. Monitors on their brightest settings are dull and gray back-lit by the pres-spring sun. No amount of stretching can satisfy the itch in the bodies of office drones waiting for the bell signaling recess and dismissal.

Today I rode to work, over streets and bridges. I could've kept on until I was half way through New Jersey. I could run, run, run, bouncing off of slower pedestrians, hopping from hydrant to paper box to car roof. I want to feel the sting and burn in my thighs and lungs. I want to sprint, my feet teasing the ground with their contact. I could run until I hit a brick wall. Then I would climb it and run more. This is what spring air does, this is me en printemps.

I could do all of this... if I were outside and not financially chained to my ergonomic chair and G5 tower. Instead of winning 5Ks, I'm flicking small gestures with a wacom stylus. Instead of jumping from corner to corner using the bodies of businessmen as launch pads and landing sites I'm tapping out staccato rhythms on my keyboard. Spring break needs to be instated in the "real world". Spring break, come get us!
