Design Is Dangerous!!!

When I was in undergrad my fingers were riddled with small slices. Freshman and sophomore year were in reverence to the exacto blade (No. 11). The unsightly black splotches were either india ink or dirt that was then semi-permanently fixed to your skin with heavy duty spray mount. When I got my first design gig they upped the ante a bit. Not only was I the Design Assistant and Product Composition Specialist (ie: intern) I also got to carry out the more devious office duties....meaning, in addition to comping up every single book and design idea in a 5x6 windowless room high off of adhesive fumes with teetering stacks of those glorious exacto blades, I was also in charge of bombing, tagging, and other wise defiling the city of Philadelphia with our and our client's logos. (Yeah, whatevs, we were just that kind of ad studio, aight!)

During my brief yet not-so-brief stint as a super-profesh studio designer in ooh-la-la Manhattan my sliced hands healed and the most cutting and pasting I was doing were keyboard shortcut commands.

But, now that I've got some time and a whole-bunch of dust-covered but still vivacious creativity I'm getting out the blades, the cut mat, the super 77 multipurpose adhesive, and several cans of Krylon, rolling up my sleeves and getting back into all those dangerous and alluring aspects of designing and showing my work that got me into this shit in the first place.

Someone please be ready with the band-aids and bail money.
