When the cat's away....

Though I'm not a big online shopper I'm taking a small opportunity to surf the interwebs for gifts.My dad's birthday is tomorrow and so far I've burned him 3 CDs, an impressive follow up to his Christmas calendar, the only gift I showed up to his house with. The man buys what he wants, when he wants it, leaving the rest of us to hope all his socks suddenly have gaping holes in the heels so we can wrap up a bonus pack of Hanes in bright, shiny paper. This year, dear old dad gets Brawny, Charmin, and a couple old Delgados LPs.

And a super fabulous boy I know has a birthday approaching. It's a ways away, but I LOVE birthdays...and when its for someone you really, really, really, really, reeealllly like, its fun to start early. Plus, this particular boy requires tons of ethical and political research on most purchased items thus making shopping an exercise similar to thesis prep in social work.

But what I'm really doing today is not as sweet as it may sound. You see, what makes March super-duper fabulous is not just Get-Belligerent-Cause -You're-Just-About-As-Irish-As-A-Miller-Lite Day but March holds my birthday!

Honestly the only thing I want on my birthday is my best friends, some cake and ice cream, some mood-altering/elevating substances, and a party. The celebration could be a sea of people jumping and grinding to punk rock and new wave or it could be my 5 besties all drunk off their asses pushing frosting into one another's faces. Either one will do.
